Brief description

Landscape architecture and urban planning are closely linked. In the module, the central principles of urban planning are taught and their significance for landscape architecture is elaborated. Students are enabled to work on the interfaces between landscape architecture and urban planning in practice and to identify and evaluate the interactions between urban planning and landscape architecture.

  • Significance of socio-economic conditions and current social developments for urban planning
  • Requirements of different uses (residential, commercial, transport, etc.) in urban planning
  • Interactions between urban and open space structure

Students have a broad and integrated knowledge of the central design methods and planning instruments of urban planning.

Students have an in-depth knowledge of the interactions between urban and open space planning.

Students will be able to identify interfaces between urban planning and open space planning in planning projects and develop planning solutions.

Application and Transfer

Students will be able to analyse the effects of urban planning projects on their own planning projects and develop planning concepts together with urban planners.

Students can identify new interfaces between urban planning and open space planning in planning projects and develop planning solutions for new challenges.

Students can exchange ideas with urban planners on an interdisciplinary basis.

Students are able to independently deal with urban planning processes and constantly changing framework conditions and assess their significance for their own planning practice.
