Brief description

Public administration is an important employer for many graduates or also an important client in the implementation of public projects. However, public administrations have special ways of working and are subject to specific legal frameworks, which are an important basis for working in or with public administration. In the unit, students are taught the basic principles of public administration and are enabled to implement planning projects in the context of public administration.

Teaching and learning outcomes

The module teaches the central basics of working methods and project management in public administration:

  • The role of public administration in the state structure
  • Tasks of public administration
  • Structure, organisation and forms of action of public administration
  • Internal administrative decision-making processes
  • Legal requirements for administrative action and administrative procedures
  • Interaction between administration and politics
  • Project management in public administration
  • Current fields of activity and reform approaches in public administration

The contents are illustrated by concrete examples in the field of open space and landscape development.

The standard form of examination is homework (alternative form of examination may be chosen by the examiner and then announced at the beginning of the course)

Basic understanding of project processes in landscape architecture.

Students have a broad and integrated knowledge of the central legal framework and possibilities for action of public administration.

Students have an in-depth knowledge of the management of planning projects in public administration.

Students will be able to identify and plan possible actions and the necessary action steps for the implementation of a specific project in public administration.
