Career prospects
The broad scope of the degree program enables you to take on leading roles in the transformation of the food industry — from agriculture to end consumers, including the food industry and trade. With a focus on entrepreneurship, the program also opens the door for you to found your own start-up, allowing you to actively shape the future of food systems.
Further fields of employment include, for example: innovation and sustainability management, strategy and organizational development, as well as product and brand management. Potential employers are companies from the agricultural and food sectors, economic and professional associations, and institutions for research and teaching.
More Information
In Osnabrück, you will study at the center of the agricultural and food industry. Here and in the surrounding area, on the western border of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, a large number of medium-sized and large companies in the sector, as well as young start-ups, are concentrated alongside agricultural businesses: from the seed and feed industries, through agricultural engineering and food processing, to (digital) trade and other food services.
This geographical proximity enables intensive exchange with companies from across the agricultural and food industry. The forms of cooperation are very diverse:
- Company visits as part of excursions
- Offering of internship positions for students
- Provision of scholarships
- Assignment of topics for project and final theses
- Guest lectures on special topics
- Assumption of teaching assignments in the degree program
- Collaboration in research projects, practical experience
Once a year, renowned companies from across the agri-food business are invited to Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (so-called job fairs). Accompanied by a program of specialist lectures and application training, company representatives — often former students of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences — offer you attractive positions: cooperation opportunities for project and final theses as well as positions for starting your career. Separate job fairs are organized for the sub-sectors of food processing, agriculture, and horticulture. Further information can be found on the webpages of the job fairs.
