Degree program and options for specialization
Your studies are divided into two sections. The courses are organized into modules, each spanning one semester.
In the first section, during the first three semesters, you will acquire general and specific foundational knowledge through required modules, preparing you to manage situations and problems in the general professional field.
In the second section, starting in the fourth semester, you have the opportunity to individually deepen your knowledge through elective modules. When selecting modules, you can choose to concentrate on one subject area and become specialized in it, or you can develop broad knowledge as a generalist.
In the fourth semester, there is the option to choose an international focus, which includes various English-language modules and prepares you for future professional activities abroad. Additionally, in the fifth semester, you may complete a semester abroad.
The final semester includes a module for conferences and excursions, a professional project, and the writing of your bachelor's thesis.
Block week
Each semester includes a block week: this week is reserved for special activities, such as excursions to companies in the agri-food sector or workshops where you can train your communication skills or learn how to successfully plan and implement projects.
The elective specialization area includes a total of 7 elective modules. Here you can choose from a wide range of modules and thus individually tailor your course of study according to your interests and preferences.
You may also select up to 10 credit points from elective modules offered in the bachelor’s degree programs of the faculty, at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, or from accredited bachelor’s degree programs outside Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, in Germany or abroad.
The international focus of your studies
The international, English-language semester at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences enables you to strengthen your international competencies by taking the specialization “Sustainable Food Systems” in the fourth semester. By participating in these English-language specialization modules, you not only improve your language skills but also acquire specialized knowledge in the field of “Sustainable Food Systems.”
This prepares you optimally for a semester abroad in the fifth semester and will be listed on your diploma as the specialization “International Semester: Sustainable Food Systems.”
